How to be an Explorer of the World - Keri Smith

Super little book by Keri Smith which encourges people to explore the world around them and become more aware of the amazing things it contains.

Inside the colour palette has been restricted to a simple Black, White and Orange which works especially well. There are a series of tasks to stimulate your creativity and get you looking at everyday items in different ways. Another key feature for illustration lovers is that the entire book is hand drawn & written. A brilliant little book that's worth seeking out.

Published by Penguin / Particular books.

Growl & Grandeur - Clothing

Growl & Grandeur is a brand new clothing label from Colin Hood. We interviewed Colin way back in Ammo issue 1 & he's been busy drawing & planning his new label. There's a selection of tees up on the site which would look great on men & lady folk too. Check them out via the link below.

A Book of Nonsense - Gabriella Barouch

We were lucky enough to recieve a copy of Gabriella Barouch's latest publication - A Book of Nonsense featuring Limericks by Edward Lear. Gabriella illustrated the cover of Ammo issue 6 and we've received a huge amount of compliments about her creative, often surreal style.

Her new book features absolutely beautiful artwork which compliments her chosen quotes perfectly. Not sure whether the book is officially for sale but we'd highly recommend contacting her to see if you can buy a copy. We've got high hopes for Gabriella and hope to see a lot more of her artwork

In a first-of-its-kind project for Birmingham Royal Ballet, a selection of artists and designers have been invited to produce a single piece of artwork which envisages the plot of the classical masterpiece as told in a manner of their choosing.

Boat Magazine - Issue 1

We were very excited to hear about Boat Studio's new magazine and even more excited when a beautifully designed (by Luke Tonge) publication dropped through the letterbox. Below is a little information about their 1st issue.

A bit about Boat Magazine
Boat Studio is a creative studio in London. Twice a year we physically pick up our studio, and replant it in a different city. We don’t just go anywhere, we go to places that have been overlooked or overshadowed by incidents in the past, and work with local and international writers, photographers, illustrators and artists to update our readers’ ideas about a particular place.

Issue One.
The first issue is Sarajevo. We have some stunning contributions from American Literary Heavyweight Dave Eggers, to the snowboarding editor of Snowsphere Magazine, an interview with Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic and a short piece from Sophie Cooke, author of The Glass House and Under the Mountain.

YARNfest - Cover Wars, Queen of Hoxton, London

Claire Hartley was kind enough to represent Ammo Magazine at YARNfest's Cover Wars.

Participating artists included Hidden Dingbats (represented by Phil and Lauren), Jamie Littler (representing Soupa), Robin Boyden (representing Paperfox Press) & Claire too!

Foxly's Feast - Owen Davey

Foxly's Feast is a beautifully illustrated children's book by Owen Davey.

Foxly is hunting for things to include in his feast. He visits the farmyard, the fish pond and the rabbit’s burrow. It looks like the animals are in danger, but there’s more to Foxly than meets the eye!
(Templar)

This debut picture book is beautifully illustrated and was highly commended for the Macmillan Prize for illustration.
(Julia Eccleshare)

Davey has created a luscious visual feast…with that certain retro/modern take, he pens Foxley and his potential supper finds with such finesse, visual pleasure is assured. Inked with that soft vintage colour that also has the curious capability to pop from the page, the illustrations are riddled with emotion, humour, texture and a balance that belies this author/illustrator’s age.
